The Gympie West State School has secured a $35,000 funding commitment from an LNP Government.

Member for Gympie, Tony Perrett, said that the funds will be used to help upgrade playground equipment and create a well-designed, age appropriate outdoor learning environments for the students.

“The total cost of the equipment is $70,000.

“The school’s ‘Pine Forest ‘, which is the main play area for Prep and Year 1, urgently needs an improvement,” Mr Perrett said.

“The school is proposing a three to five-year plan to upgrade the playground and create an outdoor educational environment for our students.

“The initial stage of the plan is to replace the playground and install additional play areas.

“Physical exercise is important to learning as it assists with skills such as sequencing, memory, and prioritising which can create success at school and better outcomes for learning.

“An upgraded playground will provide the best educational opportunities to the students and to comply with health and safety requirements.

“Under an LNP government we are committed to providing the grassroots infrastructure and providing essential equipment which will allow our local community to thrive,” he said.
